Our big news is that our sixth project, Haven, launched on 9th January and it is already making a real difference. So far we’ve had 18 young people attend and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, including:
“My son went to Haven last night and he can’t wait to go again. He was so happy when he came back. This is such a fantastic idea! Thank you.”
“Have not heard my son so animated in a long time, thank you. He loved it and has talked non stop all the way home. Please pass on my thanks to all your lovely volunteers.”
“My son loved it. He was very nervous and I was nervous for him. He was over the moon to come home and show us what he had been cooking! We were so pleased for him. He’s now determined to cook for us at home. In one session he got so much out of it. He’s looking forward to the next session! I’m sure it’s going to be a great success and lots of children are going to benefit from Haven.”
It is an absolute privilege to be supporting these young people and their families.
We also recently received this lovely feedback from a young man who has been attending Men’s Shed:
“I first went to the Men’s Shed over two years ago. I went as I was practically a recluse, only going out every 2 or 3 weeks to do some shopping. I didn’t go straight away as I was nervous about going but I needn’t have been worried as everyone was very welcoming. It was exactly what I was looking for, somewhere to socialise with other men and learn new skills. I had a go at different types of woodwork before I found the scroll saw and instructor Syd. I have been learning the scroll saw for about a year and have now reached intermediate level. The Men’s Shed is great as you can go for as long or as short as you like, everyone is friendly and you can just come in for a chat. It gives me something worthwhile to do during the day.”
