Saturday night/Sunday morning
11pm – 4am
A late night café is open at the Axis Centre in Market Street. Street teams of three or four patrol the centre of Exmouth during the night to offer care and help to clubbers in town. This could be to help find a taxi, to bring support or comfort to distressed individuals, or to assist people who are unwell.
The café is a ‘safe zone’ for people to calm down before going home or while they wait for transport. We provide free tea and coffee - and cake when we have some!
New event
In the last couple of months nightshift stepped out in faith and ran a second shift from 9.00pm to 12.00am and 12.00am to 3.30am. There are now enough new people to run this once a month on a permanent basis. This earlier team are able to meet with the younger groups of the community. CCTV and the police are more than happy for us to help with this age group as they take up a lot of the police time in the area.

Report from Community Safety Partnership Coordinator
Recently Gerry Moore wrote a report stating that crime, disorder and anti social behaviour has shown a decrease of 21% in Exmouth town since nightshift has been running. Although these figures can not be attributed to just one initiative one thing is certain, nightshift has undoubtedly played a major part in the fall in reports. Gerry’s report can be found in the current issue of our magazine.
