Counselling at Open Door

Counselling at Open Door

Our counselling service was launched in April and to date, it has been a resoundingly successful addition to the work of Open Door. We are hugely grateful to our three fantastic counsellors who bring a wealth of expertise and have so generously donated their time for free so that people in need can get this valuable support without cost being a prohibitive factor. We have been able to support 10 people so far and have just expanded our capacity to now be able to support 7 people at any one time.

Of course our counselling service is highly confidential, but one person who has benefitted from the service wanted to share this:

“Counselling has helped me talk about things and overcome things that I never thought I would. It’s helped me understand so many things that have happened in my life and therefore started helping me cope with them! When I started counselling I wasn’t doing anything I enjoyed and shutting myself off from everybody, but now I’m drawing, exercising and spending so much time with friends. I always enjoy my sessions because I always learn something new about myself and just love knowing that somebody cares enough to listen!”

If you or anyone you know would value counselling on any issue but cannot afford to seek it privately and cannot access it via your GP, please contact [email protected] for more details and to arrange an assessment.
